hehe. Because I'm losing my voice, I can sing in harmony with myself. (Don't mistake that for sounding good.) I can't quite do a Nields song, though. Yes, I tried.

1) Still no job. Please hire me.
2) Physical complaints: I've had a cold for a week now. I think I'm losing my voice. I have a bruise the size of a baseball on my left knee, and I'm not entirely sure how it got there. And I need new glasses. (Odd note from earlier: I put in water-tight earplugs before I took a shower because I've had swimmer's ear lately. I couldn't hear anything. I realized when I stepped in the shower that I was seeing worse than I usually do. Or so I perceived.)
3) I still haven't been knitting. I'm so lazy. I've still been cleaning alot. I plan to see Carbon Leaf and Gaelic Storm at the Dame on Monday, lack of job be damned.
4) My car died last week. So we bought a new battery. It didn't fix it. We (we = my dad and I) replaced the spark plugs. Still nothing. The guy came to tow it, and he said, "try flooring it and trying to start it." It worked. Dad tried to replace the fuel filter and broke it, so I had to pay $30 to have it fixed (he paid for the fuel filter and a set of socket wrenches to work on it with.) Now I can't find the code to reset the radio, so I have no noise in my car. Aiee. It'll be horrible driving to pick Jay up!
5) I swear, I had more to say when I thought about blogging earlier.

I had the freakiest dream last night. There were these cabbage patch kids that you could splice genes to and they became alive. For some reason I did this, and I had this baby to take care of. I was at a conference on childhood education, and I left the baby in the hotel room. When I finally got back to it, I realized it was real and it needed water and food. I fed it, and went to bed. The next day I left it in the room again, and I went back and the baby was all but dead, so I took it home to my sister so she could help me with it. We tried to feed it, and it kept growing and growing as we did it. Eventually, it turned into a clone of my niece Autumn, but it was all bruised and stuff from the malnourishment. I was afraid my brother and family was going to find out, so I tried to hide her. However, they found the Autumn clone on their own when Jay's late brother Ernie brought her home to them. We were all trying to take care of her, but she'd grown so fast she had no social skills and was completely wild (yet she could talk and could use a glass and silverware.) It was so incredibly weird.
I am buying Ani Difranco tickets in 13 minutes. I am nervous, as I always am before ticket onsale dates. I'm a dork.

From Beth's blog:
The Rules are:
Step 1: Open your Winamp or other MP3 player.
Step 2: Put all of your music on random.
Step 3: Write down the first ten songs it plays, no matter how embarrassing.
My results:
1. Y Kan't Tori Read - Pirates
2. Tori Amos - live recording of Cornflake Girl where she messes up
3. Mono Puff - Backstabbing Liar
4. Sarah McLachlan - Songs for a Winter Night
5. Liz Phair - White Chocolate Space Egg
6. Moxy Fruvous - The Greatest Man in America
7. Tori Amos - Leather
8. Barenaked Ladies - Care Less
9. Ben Folds Five - Don't Change Your Plans
10. Cake - It's Coming Down

Why do I even try to cook?
Tonight I was making Italian sausage for sammiches. I've read that you should cook them in a bit of water before browning them. I cooked the water off, evidently, without realizing, and the result was a lot of burnt grease in the pan, and a lot of smoke around the house. I'm coughing and it's icky. Let's hear it for that Dawn Power Dissolver stuff.
We're SOOOOOO going out to eat on Friday.
Jesus, I sound like quite the housefraü.

Note for the day:
Never ever use a plastic non-heat-resistant spatula to deglaze a currently or recently heated pan.
If I would have went through with the gravy, it would have tasted like black plastic. (I improvised a decent one with what I had available.)

Blah. I know I haven't blogged in awhile. Bad me. All this free time, yet I have nothing to say.
So far, I've applied for a million and one jobs. I've had two interviews (both with the same company. The first was a phone interview.) I really hope I get the job. It pays well, it's working in the tech industry (writing for a magazine and maintaining a website), and I'd get to go to San Francisco and NYC every year. I felt like the phone interview went a LOT better than the interview in person. I had some more time to prepare for it (a few hours vs. a few minutes.)
I've applied for six or seven jobs at the Univ. of KY. I want one of those so I can get free classes and stuff.
Other than that, I've been cleaning alot. I guess I've been a bit depressed, which accounts for my lack of blogging. It's coming and going. I've only been knitting when I go out to knit with other people. I'm Lazy. I got my hair cut. It's short and layered (not TOO short. The shortest layer is chin length, and a little longer from there.)
Murray was sick and had to go see the vet (and evidently my old vet retired and sold his practice. No problem, I liked the new guy too.) When we took Murray for a check-up in August he weighed 6.5 lbs. This time he weighed 15 lbs. Now all the cats have him to blame for their food being the "light" variety. He has a bit of an infection, and gets to take yummy medicine. I know it's yummy because I tasted it. hehe. It's orangey-creamy. He doesn't like taking it much, though. He can't really spit it out. Let's hear it for cat anatomy!
My dad's in Florida, and is planning on staying there until the end of March (except for a visit here for a few days to reload on his medicines and see the annual Wildwater Film Festival in Lexington.) Today Jay's mom was in town, and I made dinner for her. Jay's sister Lizzy was in the Vagina Monologues, which Aimee, Jay and I saw last night. It wasn't bad. Jay handled it better than I thought he might.
I got a lovely mix cd and card from Nicole, and I need to email her a thank you note. I really liked Jeff Buckley's cover of "Hallelujah." I firmly belive that Leonard Cohen should never ever ever sing his own songs. He writes beautiful stuff, and then sings like he's had a 5 pack a day habit for the past 35 years.
Not much else is going on. Be sure to leave comments, and to blog frequently, because I have NOTHING else to do, ok?
