I had an interview for a research assistant position with the CATS Clinic today. (yesterday now, since I'm finishing this on Wednesday.) I really hope I get it. I loved the place. AND they had a therapy dog (!!!!!) His name is Banjo. The clinic does assessments for families in crisis and/or traumatized/abused/neglected children. I would be doing all sorts of stuff, from data entry to focus groups. I have my fingers crossed.
I should go do some housework now, etc. bleah. Everyone read this article about the dog that protected the toddler when she wandered away from home.

Picture it: Myrtle Beach, 1983. We went down several times a year to stay at my grandparent's house. It was the beach, so we went barefoot alot. There was a rough concrete patio under the house (as it was on stilts.) Walking barefoot, I stubbed my toe. It bled. They took me upstairs and put me on the edge of a bathtub so it can bleed and they can take care of it. Seeing the blood, I faint.
Fast forward to this morning: I'm sitting there looking at my toe, and I start thinking about the incident at the beach. I start to get woozy. I stop myself from hyperventilating, but the edges of everything are going black. I finally calm down and lay down on the bathroom floor. I'd like to sincerely thank whomever put down tile floor in the bathroom rather than linoleum. It was so nice and cool. I elevated my feet on the bathtub. After about ten minutes I got up and found a band-aid.
It really didn't bleed that much. I felt like it was alot of blood. But oh, my, that felt horrible.
Moral of this story: Do not make the Colleen bleed. Thank you.

Aimee and I just got back from Dayton where I saw Ben Folds, Guster, and Rufus Wainwright. And Erika.
It was a good show. Ben Folds set was nice. Well-rounded, especially for its length, and he did "Rock this Bitch" in polka-style. He also did a rap. We saw his back most of the time (but his back from the second row). It was really great to be able to see his hands for once. The piano went out of tune during the set (which I noticed before he mentioned), but everything still sounded good to me. Guster was pretty good, too. I probably recognized half of the songs. The guys beside us were standing up, so we couldn't see without standing up. We just went and had pretzels outside the lawn area and listened. It worked fine for me. We went back for Rufus Wainwright.
His voice is like butter (even if his hair did look a bit funky.) We left right before his encore, to beat the crowds.
I saw Erika before the show started. She found me. Her hair is really cute. It was nice seeing her again, it'd been a little over a year. I only see her at Ben Folds concerts. Hmm. hehe. It's so hard to believe that when I first met her she was 15, and now she's nearly 21 and a senior in college. O, where have the years gone?
And now I must head bedwards, and get some sleep. Goodnight!

Ok, so now I'm attempting to use Abilon News Aggregator to post to both
Livejournal and Blogger. I'm looking for an easy way to do this. We'll see if
this is it. I'd like to use an RSS feed, but I can't do that with a free account
on Livejournal (or someone with a paid account has to add the feed, which is
listed down there below the test entry.)
I am carless for the moment. It's at Wal Mart getting its little ol' oil
changed. I walked home *gasp*!
Last night Jay and I went to PetSmart to buy the cats some more food. They
have animals there for adoption, and there was a cage with four kittens in them.
Very young kittens, from the looks of them (maybe 6 or 7 weeks old.) Three of
them were curled up in a ball, and one of them was trying to nurse off of the
other one in its sleep. It cracked me up. It was cute, if not mildly
disturbing. As far as I remember, I never tried to nurse off of any of MY
siblings. But it just misses its mommy.

Some pet minutae:
1) Currently, my dog is sedated. I took her to the vet the other day, and they gave me some medicine to give her if it stormed. It looked SURE that it was going to storm yesterday (according to the radar), so I gave her some. No storm. It looked like that again today. I gave her some. No storm. Finally, tonight, it looked like it again, so I gave her some, and it did storm. And she was out like a light. The other times it didn't effect her as much, but I also didn't get the whole dose down her.
2) Earlier today I was sitting on the couch watching TV, and I hear a THUMP THUMP THUMP from the window behind me. Murray fell off of the windowsill. This isn't a small windowsill, it's about a foot wide. I don't know if he came unbalanced, or what. It cracked me up. He was fine, just shamed.
Other stuff:
I highly recommend the new David Sedaris book, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. I bought and read it yesterday. I laughed out loud innumerable times. I also recommend his other books, but this one was really funny.

I need a job. I need more info on Work Study. I need to pay off my car, otherwise I'm going to be a pauper. I need, I need, I need.
On the other hand, Jay's financial aid package is very nice. A lot of scholarship and grant money. Yay Jay!
Answer these questions for me. NOW!

And there was sight, and they saw that it was good.
I went to the eye doctor Wednesday, which is never any fun. My prescription is a good deal stronger, and if I didn't get new glasses soon, I would not be legal to drive. So last night Jay went with me and we picked out two pairs of glasses at Dr. Bizer's (they had a special going.) I went to pick them up today, and by golly, I can see! The last pair of lenses I got I never did adapt to the right lens, so I was afraid that was going to happen again. However, it did not, and I can see. I have a bit of a headache, but I was cool to drive. I think they made the right lens wrong last time. Whatever. I can see now. hehe.
On Tuesday Aimee and I went to Kentucky Kingdom. The lines were pretty much non-existant, which was very nice. The locker situation pissed us off, though. They have a new computerized locker system. $6 all day, you can go in and out as you please, and you choose a PIN. That's all well and good, but when we went over to the other side of the park to the water park, we expected there to still be some quarter lockers. Alas, there were not, so we couldn't go without either 1: Purchasing another locker for $6, or 2: Leaving all of our stuff out in the open. So we did not go to the waterpark (although I did strip down to the bathing suit, run into the wave pool, and run back out. It was hot!) I didn't get a killer sunburn, thank goodness, and I think I actually qualify as "tan" right now (GASP!)
I think that's all I have for now. Go see Harry Potter, it rocks. I want to see Saved, The Stepford Wives, and Supersize Me sometime this week, too.

In other news, I've started knitting again. I guess that's a good thing. I wasn't doing it before for reasons I don't quite understand. I'm applying for a Research Assistant position in the college of social work. I had a dream that a chick from the college came by with a grab bag full of stuff for me. I thought I got to keep it all, but as she was leaving I found out I had to close my eyes and pick. Which sucks, because I saw some Strawberry Shortcake cards in there I wanted. In my dream, I had a Strawberry Shortcake jacket, a bedspread, and all sorts of stuff. One other dream involved me flying to Dayton. It was all weird.
Ok, I should go have lunch and take a shower.
